Community policing!!! I’m sure that is what this is. At any point they’ll break out some cards and play Euchre or a basketball and shoot some hoops. Wait, that’s only for elderly and kids under the age of 14. Teens and adults under the age of 65 . . . well, we don’t really do community policing with those groups, unless its with the neighborhood associations (typically middle age, middle class white people)

I’m not really sure what else to say at this point. The pictures about say it all. Dylan at the Isthmus has a story that just came out.

I see two solutions, the first one is preferred.
1) I really just wish we could have a community conversation about the “problem” and discuss solutions that don’t involve ticketing.
2) If we can’t talk and problem solve together, then if people selling drugs and carrying guns is the problem, why don’t the police arrest those people for those illegal activities. I would think that would be where you would start.
I don’t understand why arresting people for sitting and “occupying a planter” – a ticket that is clearly not warranted for the activity that is occurring is helping at all. It just makes everyone, the mayor, the chief and the officers that have to ticket people, look absurd. Check out this video. I feel sorry for the cop that indicates he doesn’t want to do this (not the first one, but the second one).

Also, if the police have time for this . . . for four cops to be standing around at the top of State St., then we don’t need 40 more officers in the next 4 years. We just don’t. I’m tired of paying for cops playing Euchre or football or kickball, or repairing bikes, or reading with a cop, or standing around drinking ice coffee (see video), or crafting with cops or eating lunch with kids.

You, I think I’ll try an experiment. I think I need to improve my community relations, I’ve pissed off alot of people by writing my blogs. I think I’ll do my own campaign and start playing Euchre (yes, I grew up in Wisconsin and am actually a decent player – I also play cribbage if anyone is interested, its been a while since I played Canasta), or stop by libraries and read or be read to, stop by schools and eat lunch, I don’t know how to repair bikes, but I could craft (crochet or cross stitch) and I could even play basketball (I’m at a bit of a disadvantage) or kickball. How long do you think I would keep my job? We might be able to make it into a fundraiser for the Tenant Resource Center, but who would do my job while I’m out and about – not working at my job.

Enough of the silly stuff! Enough.
