“Proposed” B-Cycle Locations

Um . . . “proposed” but phase one will be done by Sunday. And phase 2 will be done 10 days later.

A quick update on bcycle locations. Attached please find a list of the proposed locations for bcycle locations. Pursuant to the operation agreement, the first 16 have be approved via the privilege in streets process / agreement and the remaining 20 are in design and or under review. The first phase of site construction is underway at location 1, 4, 6 and 7 and a expected completion by May 22. The second phase of construction of 2, 3 and 8-16 are anticipated to be constructed and up and running by June 1. The remaining 20 are anticipated to be in operation by July 1. Where was the public input and discussion on this? How were people supposed to say what they wanted and how they would use the program?

    You can see a google map of the station locations.

    It’s not bad for a 1st pass. The near east side (Atwood area) could use a couple of locations and the Monroe Street area could use a couple.

    There are some busy bus stops that ought to be considered (U.W. Engineering Bldg, for example).

    One big weakness: Nothing on State Street. They definitely need to add 3 stations along State Street…

    It will be interesting to see how well this can be integrated with the Metro bus service.
