Let the Campaigning (for Mayor) Begin!

Oh dear . . . the fundraising has started! It seems to be a year early.

Soglin for Mayor
Dear Friends,

I hope you will join me on Wednesday, June 26 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. for a fundraising reception at the Hong Kong Café, 2 South Mills Street, in Madison.

It is an honor to serve as Madison’s Mayor and I look forward to continuing to work with you to meet the challenges we face and seize the opportunities that lie ahead.

To sponsor the event, please click here or call my campaign at 608/206-1818.

Thanks to your support, over the past two years since my election in 2011, we’ve made progress in improving life in Madison, for all who live here:

  • Crime data shows an even safer city with homicides reduced by half.
  • We have re-invigorated Neighborhood Resource Teams which expand the reach and effectiveness of existing initiatives in neighborhood centers and libraries.
  • We are preparing to remove thousands of pounds of phosphorus from the lakes with an approved Adaptive Management Plan.
  • Our growing needs are being met with hundreds of millions of dollars of new construction – and the jobs that construction creates — and with both medium income and single residency housing for people who are homeless.

We have more to do on those issues while also tackling additional challenges including:

Food policy:  we must have a food policy that focuses on better nutrition, eliminating hunger, and developing a sound economy that appreciates our ability to purchase locally, and enhance the growing food processing and packaging industry in Madison.

Public Schools: we are focusing on a three phased program to stand side-by-side with the schools to enhance academic performance by combating both hunger and violence; strengthen parental involvement in the schools; and focus on the time children spend out of school.

Fiscal Health:  Being a good steward of taxpayer dollars means having the discipline and foresight to engage in the best revenue and borrowing practices. In order to meet the challenges of poverty, have the capacity to invest in new initiatives and strengthen our City’s future, we continue to make responsible budgeting the number one priority.

Thanks again for your support. I hope to see you on June 26 at the Hong Kong Café.

 Sincerely,

Paul Signature
