Recently there has been too many cases of random bullets entering houses. This exact bullet was found in someone’s house, head high, on Sunday Morning.
This letter was then sent to others in the neighborhood –
Hello, neighborhood folks.
Many of you know that our house was hit with a rifle bullet around 11 am last Sunday, August 22nd. It hit our courtyard area, the height of my head. My husband (who was munitions in the first Gulf War) looked at the bullet and said it was clean, so likely not an accidental ricochet. We found out others have had the same experience and this has been going on since July with bullets entering the interiors of homes. To date, no charges have made though the police know who the shooters are and from whose property they are coming (Buckley Ridge area). There seems to be some confusion regarding legality, but once properties and people are at risk, it seems clear that the statute has been violated:
941.20 941.20 Endangering safety by use of dangerous weapon.
(1)Whoever does any of the following is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor:
(a) Endangers another’s safety by the negligent operation or handling of a dangerous weapon; or
(b) Operates or goes armed with a firearm while he or she is under the influence of an intoxicant;

Please spread the word. I feel we have been lucky so far that only property has been damaged and not a person.
What kind of society are we were stray bullets entering neighborhood housing is treated with a yawn and and afterthought while people singing in the Capitol are treated like mass murderers.
There is a difference between being annoyed by singers and getting shot in your own home while eating lunch. While stray bullets is a serious problem – the real problem is irresponsible gun owners and our gun loving culture in the US.
While the NRA tries to drown out any problems we have with guns, by a flurry of propaganda and money, the effects are there and people deal with them on a daily basis.
I have never seen the effects of a shooting so well documented as I have when I went to Broom Street Theatre’s Triggered on Friday night!
Callen Harty’s new Broom Street Theater play, Triggered, examines the impact of a random killing on several characters—the mother of the victim, the father of the killer, and a young woman who happened to witness the shooting, among others. The play explores the culture of violence in our country and the paths to redemption.
The culture of gun violence in our country is something, no one should be proud of. This play captures the real life consequences that come from someone deciding to use their gun(hint: it affects more than just the shooter and shootee).
After the play, SERVE2UNITE was represented where we realized that its time we all unite as a community around peace instead of protecting the gun companies.
