I keep seeing more and more requests for input. Feels awkward because I work for a non-United Way Agency, but it seems they want community input and you should give it to them. Tenant Resource Center and its predecessor Madison Tenant Union have been a member of Community Shares of Wisconsin since 1969, agencies can’t be a member of both. Every few years a board member asks to re-examine this and we always stay with Community Shares for many reasons. However, that doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t give United Way the input they are seeking.
Focus groups and on-line survey. Could lead to big change! (Maybe it will just be more of the same) But will it be change you can believe in? Is it change you will give your change to?

United Way invites everyone in the Madison area to help them identify pressing community issues in the areas of Education, Safety and Health to inform the building of their 2015-2018 strategic plan.
Madison, Wis. (July 16, 2014)—United Way of Dane County will be holding a series of four community listening sessions called Agenda for Change Conversations on July 29, August 5, August 7 and September 9 from 5:30-7:30 pm to create a forum where the community can share feedback and ideas on the most critical issues in Dane County in the areas of Education, Safety and Health. The ideas shared at these sessions will influence United Way 2015-2018 Strategic Plan. Everyone from the Madison area community is invited to be a part of these conversations, especially those who are either engaged in the work being done to resolve issues in our community or those living through these challenges. As you likely know, United Way of Dane County’s CEO, Leslie Ann Howard, has communicated her intent to retire from the UWDC on December 31, 2015. Leslie has been and continues to be an outstanding and impactful leader for our community. The United Way Board of Directors has formed and empowered a Succession and Search Committee to lead a successful, seamless leadership transition process to find the next leader for the United Way of Dane County with the proper skills, experiences and characteristics to lead the UWDC into the future. The Board has also engaged The QTI Group to bring its expertise and talent to the transition and search process.
The opinions of UWDC stakeholders—staff, volunteers, donors, clients, partners, Board, Committee members, communities and many others—are critically important and will inform the work of the Success and Search Committee. In addition to the online survey, we invite you to participate in a Committees/CST’s/CBT’s focus group hosted by the Succession and Search Committee on September 16 from 10:00-11:30 AM at the UWDC office located at 2059 Atwood Ave. This will give you an opportunity to provide additional input on your opinions about the future priorities of the United Way of Dane County and the key characteristics that are important in the next leader.
