Here are the temporary plans, more permanent plans in the works, I hope we finally figured something out . . . not exactly permanent, but a solution nonetheless. Hope to be able to say more soon. As soon as we get agreement from a few more people.

This was the email that went out last week.
The county’s Department of Administration and the City-County Building’s facilities staff have worked with advocates to develop a short term plan to reduce the number of items being kept in front of the CCB.

Evening of March 9
CCB Facilities staff will inform individuals sleeping outside of the CCB that all bags will be moved to the side of the building the morning of March 10. Bags that are currently near the flagpole will be tagged and returned to the flagpole on the afternoon/evening of March 10.March 10
Notices will be posted around the bags with a message that states, “Any bags without a recently active owner or any bags containing unwanted items should be moved to the flagpole area by March 20. Bags that are around the flagpole on March 20 will be removed and sorted. The contents of the bags will be moved to Sanctuary and available there until May 1.”March 20
All bags surrounding the flagpole will be opened and sorted. Clothing, sleeping bags, personal paperwork, and id’s will be taken to Sanctuary and stored there until May 1.May 1

So, no more surprises, no more ping pong with white trucks, no media alerts, no people going without their sleeping gear for the night. Hopefully, this is the start of something good to work with the city and county to manage issues that arise without arrests, tickets and people losing their belongings. Maybe I’m being too hopeful? But I hope not.
