Madison Water Utility has unveiled Wisconsin’s first online water conservation tool. View your home’s monthly, daily, even hourly water use to see exactly when you’re using water and how much you’re using.
Our new online conservation tool also lets you set monthly, weekly or daily usage thresholds. You’ll get an email alert if your water use surpasses whatever number of gallons you choose.

Nurses Dorm Deconstruction

Dane County will receive bids until 10:00 A.M. Tuesday July 28
on Northport Nurses Dorm Deconstruction 1206 Northport DriveWork includes deconstruction of former Nurses Dormitory. Significant architectural features of the building will be retained to create a historic interpretive site. Project will include stormwater management features, site improvements and protection of historic cultural features.
A pre-bid facility tour will be held July 15 at 10:30 A.M., starting outside the Nurses Dorm. Bidders are strongly encouraged to attend this tour.

Bird and nature walk: frogs at Oak Pond with Nelson Eisman

Follow N. Sherman Ave. north to the parking lot at the end of the gravel road.Look for frogs at Oak Pond, which features a “belly board” for up-close encounters with marsh life. Take dip samples to see what other amazing creatures make their home in the marsh’s wetlands. Guide Nelson Eisman is a Madison Metropolitan School District naturalist who leads schoolchildren in field studies at Cherokee Marsh.

Madison, Blooming Grove, Burke Fire Department
Beginning July 1, 2015 the City of Madison Fire Department will deliver service to two townships in Dane County.
The Town of Blooming Grove has contracted with the City of Madison to provide fire, prevention, and EMS to its citizens. Discussions regarding transitional planning for when the Town of Blooming Grove becomes part of the City of Madison began in 2013. “The Town of Blooming Grove and City of Madison Cooperative Plan” will be fully executed in 2027 with large township attachments occurring in the years prior.

The dissolving of the Town of Blooming Grove Fire Department leaves a hole in emergency medical coverage for residents in the Town of Burke. The City of Madison has negotiated a deal with the Town of Burke to provide EMS coverage. The City of Sun Prairie will continue to provide fire protection and prevention to Town of Burke residents. The contract with the Town of Burke also goes into effect on July 1.

Free Concert in the Breese

Breese Stevens Field
Built in 1923, Breese Stevens is the oldest playing field in Madison and was once home to all Madison high school football games and 1940s minor league baseball team Madison Blues. In a blues revival of sorts, Breese Stevens will rock to The Jimmys, a blues, soul and R&B ensemble as well as the musical talents of Mark Croft and his band, Mark Croft, an Award-Winning Singer/Songwriter, is one of the most distinguished musicians to ignite the acoustic music scene .
Blasting at Grandview Commons
SX Blasting will be blasting at Grandview Commons, a construction site described by the blaster as “the area south of Milwaukee Street and east of I-39.” They are blasting for sewer/water.
Blasting will start this Thursday, July 2, and commence for 3 or 4 days, between the hours of 11:00a-12:00p and 3:00-5:00p.
