I was blown away to find out Mo Cheeks, the Pro Tem (Vice President), of our Common Council works for Kevin Conroy, the President and CEO of Exact Sciences and Ton Still, an influential cheerleader of the project, and he never bothered to disclose it – or recuse himself from the Judge Doyle Square discussions?
I actually thought there was a mistake in the info I received, but it seems that when the Swiss Ambassador came here and Kevin Conroy was to make remarks, Mo Cheeks was the staff that handled all requests on that.
Why?
Mo Cheeks works for the Wisconsin Innovation Network. Which is a project of the Wisconsin Technology Council, and Kevin Conroy sits on the Board of Directors.
To make matters worse, he works for Tom Still, President of the Tech Council. Tom Still is clearly in favor of this project.
Is there some sort of conflict of interest when you work for people loudly cheerleading for this project who sit on the Board of Directors and are the “President” where you work.
When Mo Cheeks votes at the Board of Estimates today, will he be voting for his constituents? For what he thinks is best for the city? Will he be voting to keep his bosses happy? Or will he be voting to keep his job?
P.S. Bigger problem, he’s been in all those closed session meetings! Who is he negotiating for?
Good questions, Brenda. How did you resolve those conflicts when you voted on landlord policy?
