– DATA TOOLS FOR PHYSICAL & FISCAL FITNESS presented by CITY PLANNING DIVISION STAFF
City of Madison Planning Division staff will describe a developing set of tools that will assist with evidence-base decision making. Brian Grady, Milena Bernardinello, and Ben Zellers will provide brief overviews of the following:
1) Neighborhood Indicators Project- This tool provides data on key characteristics and indicators that relate to the quality of life at the neighborhood level to better understand similarities and differences among neighborhoods and to identify trends over time.
2) Active Living Index- This index measures on-the-ground neighborhood conditions that support healthy lifestyles.
3) Fiscal Impact Analysis – This tool will provide estimates on how the style of growth impacts municipal revenues and expenditures.
4) Urban Footprint- This modeling tool will forecast the health, fiscal, transportation, energy and water use, emissions, land consumption, and household cost impacts of various styles of urban development
