Folks,The County budget process gets underway this week. Attached please find a power point that provides an overview of the County Budget and upcoming process for the County Board.Note the following key dates:Wed. (tomorrow) Sept. 7: 6 p.m. Public Hearing on all County Departments except Human Services. Rm. 201 City-County BuildingWed. Sept. 15: 6 p.m. Public Hearing on the Department of Human Services Budget at the Alliant Energy Center. Department request is available here.County Board staff has requested he Department heads to be prepared to answer quarks related to 2 county board priorities: (a) the sustainability plan and (b) racial equity and social justice work.The County Executive will publish his 2017 Budget proposal on Friday, Sept. 30.In October, the committees of the County Board will deliberate on the budget and consider amendments. That’s quite some overview, no details at all! The county board webpage still has the 2016 budget dates, but not 2017. They never get very specific and I get cranked at if I ask for the schedule . . . the city can do it, not sure why the county can’t, but then again, they don’t even know who’s on what committees! Oh . . . wait . . .where is the city budget calendar?
