City Week Ahead a.k.a Open Meetings Laws Take a Holiday

Whoa . . .the weekly schedule (5 meetings, 1 cancelled) appears seriously messed up – it doesn’t even have the city council meeting on it. Here’s what I was able to piece together between the weekly meeting schedule and legistar (11 meetings, 8 with agendas). I wish just one of our elected officials cared enough out the public having access to accurate information about their meeting to take it on and champion it. It takes just one . . .

5:30 Plan Commission??? It’s listed in legistar but doesn’t have an agenda, not on the weekly schedule. I have to assume this is a mistake

– Three alders are notified as absent (DeMarb, King, Palm) – that means getting to 11 votes is harder. Even harder to get to 14 votes to override the mayor’s veto of the Taco Bell Liquor License

– #66 – Amending RES-17-00911, FILE ID 49177 Creating the Historic Preservation Plan Advisory Committee (Adds a third alder to the committee – one of them should be a member of the Landmarks Ordinance Review Committee)
– #67 – Adopting updates to the City of Madison Personnel Rules to allow for retroactive pay after completion of a position study back to the pay period following receipt of the study in HR
– #73 – SUBSTITUTE Supporting the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Inter-Agency Staff Team recommendation to proceed with Phase 1 Project Development in an east-west corridor running through the UW Campus and Madison’s Central Business District (CBD), with the east and west project termini to be determined.
