Election day rant about the lack of candidates
Well, its election day . . . again. A very sad election day with so few people running in contested races that will make much of a difference. Why? Why don’t people run for office? You’d think with all the people who swore to get more active now that we have that disaster in the white house, people might think that working locally might be the way. It’s frustrating. If you’ve ever thought about running for office – please let me know and let’s talk – or put in your two cents and let me know what’s stopping you! I know the usual list, money, time, family, don’t think you know enough, afraid you’ll get trashed by the media and on-line outlets. Is it more than that? That’s not stopping other people from running for all the wrong reasons (mostly ego and ladder climbing) and doing a bad job – we don’t have much to lose. Grrrr.

Circuit Court – Branch 1 – Marilyn Townsend
School Board – Seat 1 – ANNA MOFFIT (I feel very, very strongly about this one! Anna has the experience and passion – Gloria doesn’t seems to really understand how a Deputy Mayor on the School Board creates a series of conflicts that seem really hard to overcome and that fact she can’t identify them is horrifying; I never got over her being a former cop and using those skills in the worst of ways; Anna works hard to make the school board transparent and Gloria doesn’t try to make government transparent in her roles and has a negative attitude towards public participation and transparency; and I don’t know who Gloria is going to represent on the board – the people of the school district or the mayor’s interests. Vote Anna!! We know she will work hard and ethically for and with us!)
