Recommendations made tonight to fill Denise DeMarb’s Position

The Common Council Executive Committee will meet tonight (6pm, Room 354 in City-County Building) to choose their recommendation out of the 5 men running to replace Denise DeMarb to represent the 16th district on the City Council. – DISCUSSION ON SCORING APPLICATIONS & USE OF PIVOT TOOL – Pivot uses Tideman’s Ranked Pairs voting system: https://pivot-libre.github.io/
(NOTE: This tool is being proposed to be used during budget deliberations as well. It’s essentially instant runoff voting if I understand it correctly, its a ranked voting system. It’s funny how much resistance us progressive got about this system 15 years ago and now it seems widely accepted by the council?!?)
– The Common Council Executive Committee will consider the following applications received by the filing deadline (July 6, 2018 at 4:30 pm) to fill the District 16 aldermanic vacancy and will make a recommendation for appointment to the Common Council at their meeting on July 24, 2018.
