Return from Spring Break (City ) Week Ahead

Now that everyone has enjoyed their spring break, taken their furlough days and some have celebrated their holidays, back to work. This agenda is full of useless agendas and many comments to that effect.

Monday, April 5, 2010
12:00 PM COMMON COUNCIL – DISCUSSION ROOM 260 MMB
Ah, the library discussion, with little notice and likely many not able to make it . . . might have to show up to see what happens.

1:00 PM EAB Meeting ROOM 108 CCB
I’m wracked my brain trying to figure out what EAB is. It’s something parks related but that’s all I can decipher from the agenda. There is some kind of guest speaker, but it doesn’t say who. They are approving minutes of their last meeting, but I don’t know what committee it is and haven’t seen it before on the agenda. Turns out, after doing some searching, I found out it is the Emerald Ash Borer meeting. Still don’t know who is speaking or what they are speaking about.

4:30 PM MADISON PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD 201 W. MIFFLIN ST. ROOM 202
– Report on and discussion of central library
Draft Resolution Supporting Rebuilding of the Existing Central Library

Tuesday, April 6, 2010
11:00 PM NIGHT WALK-ALONG MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BLVD SIDE OF CCB
– No agenda linked, another mystery I had to sleuth out, hard to tell who is meeting and what they are meeting about. Looks like it might be the same thing as Friday night? Even tho no city committees are supposed to meet on election days. I wonder if they are visiting election night victory parties?

Wednesday, April 7, 2010
9:00 AM SOUTHERN WISCONSIN PUBLIC HEALTH PREPAREDNESS CONSORTIUM, WISCONSIN ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS AND BOARDS 1 FEN OAK, ROOM 1(A)
– Nothing of interest but just to point out how inaccessible their agendas are, they will be talking about, TAR, ARA, IP, WALHDAB, ASPR and Go kits. Whatever that all is. I figured out two of the 6 items. No materials attached to figure it out.

4:30 PM BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ROOM 108 CCB
– 7. 17937 Approving Plans, Specifications, And Schedule Of Assessments For E. Mifflin Street Reconstruction Assessment District – 2010.
The Public Hearing is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. in the Parks Conference Room, Room
108, of the City-County Building.

– – Ok, since I’m ranting about useless agendas, there are no attachments/link, so how the hell would the public comment on this. Plus, E Mifflin is a pretty long street, I think they could have been more specific. I believe this is down by East High, but I’m not positive. A search for the id number brings up nothing. How would the public know if they wanted to comment? Or should care?
– Authorizing the Streets Division to restrict refuse and recycling collection to
multi-family buildings with 8 or fewer units
.
Hiring architect for $132,000 to design Tenney Park Shelter
Spending an extra $50K on E Gorham reconstruction from 2008.

4:30 PM CDA HOUSING OPERATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE ROOM 120 MMB
Another item where you can’t see what they are voting on.
