BI-LINGUAL HOUSING COUNSELOR
Terms – 10 12 hours/week, possible additional hours in summer, $11.66/hour.
Qualifications
• Good verbal communication skills, including pleasant phone manner
• Ability to work well with people of diverse racial/ethnic, economic, and educational backgrounds
• Ability to explain action steps with clients and help them to advocate for their own rights
• Good letter writing skills
• Willingness to follow Tenant Resource Center procedures and policies
• Ability to work with little supervision
• Knowledge or interest in learning about housing issues

The Tenant Resource Center will provide nine hours of initial training on housing law and procedures.Responsibilities
• Provide counseling by phone and to walk in clients at our office. Counseling topics include finding an apartment, security deposits, repairs, evictions, sublets, and breaking leases
• Provide information to clients about their rights and responsibilities and offer options for resolving their housing related problems
• Make appropriate referrals to private and government agencies that can assist clients, record statistical information about each client
• Keep all information about clients strictly confidentialBenefits
