It’s not really what I expected. Seems almost counter-intuitive and the conservative end of the council. Will be interesting to see what they do. Or don’t do – three weeks from now.
This is so . . . conservative. Skidmore and Henak are easily the most conservative people on the council. I didn’t expect 3 white guys to be appointed, I thought it might be an opportunity to appoint more people of color and it could have been a historic moment. There is only one Progressive Dane alder out of 8 that was appointed.
Also, they won’t be meeting for another 3 weeks? The old CCEC was meeting weekly.
Makes me hope the council takes a stronger lead and starts meeting more regularly if the CCEC isn’t going to do it.
And, this explains the council leadership vote . . . .
Dear Colleagues,
We were overwhelmed by Alders who expressed an interest in serving on CCEC. However there were only five (5) spots to fill.
We are appointing the following Alders to CCEC:
* Alder Harrington-McKinney
* Alder Skidmore
* Alder Henak
* Alder Tierney
* Alder Kemble
In addition, There are also 3 designated seats on CCEC:
* Council President- Alder Carter
* Council Vice President- Alder Abbas
* Past Council president- Alder Bidar (alternate)
The first CCEC meeting will be held on May 19, 2019 at 4:30pm.
Again, thank you to everyone who reached out to express their interest in serving. We would like to encourage all of you to come and participate in the CCEC meetings as we continue to discuss council priorities and important topics.
