  • City Electric Vehicles – A Requested Informational Presentation by City Staff related to vehicle electrification – current status and future plans. As part of the City’s Plan to have net zero carbon emissions by 2030, vehicles are being transitioned to electric, starting with passenger vehicles in 2019 and some larger vehicles such as buses, fire engines and pickup trucks in 2021 and beyond. Electric vehicles typically have a higher initial purchase price, however, reduce emissions and also offer a lower cost of ownership. Some transitions have gone well – Passenger Vehicles, and others have had challenges – Buses, while some are still in the planning phase – BRT Buses. No action is required by the Board on this item.
