Alders make essentially no amendments to Mayor’s Budget?

I was stunned when I opened the budget amendments for the finance committee and only found 1 amendment from alders.

Are alders so overwhelmed and didn’t have enough time with the “two budgets” that they just froze?

Are alders so pleased with the mayor’s budget they found no fault with it and nothing they wanted to change?

Have they really hit the point where there is nothing left to cut?

Is there some sort of secret pact behind the scenes?

Are they just waiting to find out what happens with the referendum?

And if they are, remember the referendum is on Tuesday, Novemver 5th and we’ll likely find out late that night if it passes. Then the alders and staff will have like 40 hours to make their amendments. They will be due on Thursday at noon. The pubic will find out what the amendments are on Friday at noon and then the council meets on Tuesday for the public to weigh in.

I’ll ask again, why aren’t the alders giving themselves, and the public more time to deal with this unprecedented budget?
