Mayor Tom Barrett Endorses
Rep. Joe Parisi for Dane County Executive

MADISON – Former Dane County Clerk and current State Representative Joe Parisi (D-Madison) announced that 2010 Democratic gubernatorial candidate and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has endorsed his campaign for Dane County Executive today. Mayor Barrett earned nearly 68% of the vote in Dane County in the gubernatorial election.

“Joe Parisi understands the importance of regional relationships and how they can make things better in your own back yard,” said Mayor Barrett. “I can’t think of a better person to work with in the Dane County Executive’s office than Joe. He has the background and the experience to know that when times get tough, you have to get creative.”

Recently, Mayor Barrett discussed sustainability and clean energy jobs creation at a White House-Emerald Cities Collaborative (ECC) panel in Washington D.C. – Green Cities: An Urban Strategy for a Sustainable Future. The creation of family supporting clean energy jobs in Dane County, and maintaining the county’s commitment to land preservation are two of Joe Parisi’s priorities as Dane County Executive.

“Mayor Barrett’s support means a lot and I am honored to have it,” said Parisi. “I’m looking forward to working with him on best practices we could implement in Dane County related to growing green jobs, energy efficiency, and sustainability. Having relationships beyond the county can help us stay on the cutting edge.”

Mayor Barrett’s support is the latest endorsement for Parisi. Recently, Joe received the endorsement of powerful advocacy organization Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin, Dane County women leaders, Democratic Assembly leaders inside and outside of Dane County, leading environmental advocates, Former Dane County Executive Rick Phelps, and the United Transportation Union, the first union endorsement of any candidate in the Dane County Executive’s race.
