This online resource allows voters to verify that the City Clerk’s Office has processed their absentee ballot request, mailed their absentee ballot, and received their voted ballot in the mail.

The Madison City Clerk’s Office has a goal of zero absentee ballots rejected at the polls. In the November 2008 General Election, 13 percent of the absentee ballots cast by Madison voters could not be counted. Here are four things voters can do to make sure their absentee ballot is counted on Election Day:
• Return ballot on time. Allow plenty of time for the Postal Service to deliver the ballot by Election Day. Don’t wait until the last minute!
• Check address on absentee certificate envelope. This is the address where the voter is registered to vote. Voters who have moved must re-register before casting a ballot.
• Sign the certificate envelope.
• Have a witness sign the certificate envelope.

Absentee ballots are mailed to registered voters who have submitted an absentee request that contains their name, Madison address, address to which the ballot should be mailed, and original signature. The deadline for requesting that an absentee ballot be mailed is Thursday, March 31. Requests can be sent to:
City Clerk
City-County Building Room 103
210 Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd.
Madison, WI 53703.

Absentee forms are available on the City website.
