I’m so far behind, with lots of good stuff, but I’m been too busy with work. I think I might have to work all day Saturday or Sunday to catch up. Boo. So, I wouldn’t mind if it rained this weekend.
EAST WASHINGTON AVENUE
Let’s go! Let’s do it! Tim Cooley the economic development director had some good words to say about this at their meeting last night. I hope to get that up soon.
TRAIN TENSION?
I think this will sort itself out and it will become more obvious with the studies being done. And, I’m not sure there will be more ridership and it will be easier for train riders at Kohl Center and Monona Terrace. It depends if you’re coming or going, I think.
LOBBYIST GET RIGHT TO WORK!
No time to waste! I wonder what else is being put in place today . . . Yes, Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and County Exec Kathleen Falk have made it home.
BEER GARDEN THE KEY?
I kinda doubt it, but hey, might as well try it, but it seems like it might attract more people. But do we still need 150 cops for 15,000 people?
MADISON SCHOOLS CATCH A BREAK
Thanks Pocan!
911 CENTER BOARD BACKS AUTO ATTENDANT, BUT NOT HALTING PARKING CALLS FOR MADISON
No surprises there. Now, I wonder, will the Mayor take the same strong stand on behalf of city committees? Will our city attorney take the Mayor to court on behalf of the committees? If not the city attorney, who would do it? Where are the resources for that?
POLICE CRASH
Why no word on the person the police officer hit? Looks like it could be bad.
AIRLINES STILL NOT PAYING LIVING WAGE AT DANE COUNTY AIRPORT
Really? They think they are exempt? How? The ordinance was specifically amended to make them not exempt. Why are these huge companies not such good actors.
TIME TO MEND FENCES
Hmmm, I wonder if its the County Board or County Exec that need to work on this? Plus, it takes two to tango, and I’m not sure that many want those fences mended. Good to try, but I’m kinda skepical. I hope McDonell can work on this and I wish him luck!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
You may have noticed a clean up going on at Burr Jones Park. Well, its time to plant and volunteers are needed! April 24th from 9AM to Noon. They could use as many volunteers as possible on both days. Why?
They will be planting 36 oaks and hundreds of prairie plants plus a dozen native wild roses and six dogwood shrubs. The Friends of Yahara River Parkway will provide tools, gloves and refreshments.
Volunteers can meet at the Tenney Park Shelter starting at 9AM.

COMMITTEE VACANCIES
Again, thanks to Satya Rhodes-Conway for making this information more accessible!
Do you want to apply to serve on a City Committee?More information on City Committees is here. If you’re interested, you can fill out an application here. A list of vacancies is here.
Right now, there are vacancies on the following committees:
Commission on People with Disabilities
Disabled Parking Enforcement Assistance Council (multiple positions)
Economic Development Committee
Equal Opportunities Commission Employment Subcommittee
Committee on Community Gardens (multiple positions)
Madison Arts Commission (multiple positions)
City Channel ad hoc Advisory Committee
Madison Elections Advisory Committee
Parking Council for People with Disabilities
Board of Review
Senior Center Board of Directors
Senior Citizens Advisory Committee
Sister City Collaboration Committee
Solid Waste Advisory Committee
Sustainable Design and Energy Committee
Zoning Board of Appeals
Check the link to the list, because I think there are a few missing. It may be that she knows some of the positions are already filled by the Mayor. I’m, of course, curious about the three vacancies on the Housing Committee. I, of course, applied, but haven’t heard a word. Not that this is unusual, they are notoriously bad at communicating about vacancies. And, well, they likely won’t communicate with me at all. That mayor’s one swell guy.
