Twenty degree weather and strong winds were no match for Madison Bike Winter’s first event of 2011: A 90-minute ride around lake Monona. Four bicyclists including myself participated in the ride, which began at Ground Zero Coffee heading West, and ended at Mickey’s Tavern for hot coffee and a bite to eat. The paths and roads around the lake were clear of snow and ice, with the only impediment being the high winds.
Despite the brisk conditions the ride provided for an opportunity to socialize while enjoying the Winter scenery. Madison Bike Winter’s next event is a meetup on January 13th at the Mason Lounge (416 S. Park St.) from 5:30 to 8:30pm. For more information, check out the Madison Bike Winter facebook page.
