I gotta say, he’d have been a fool not to. Just got off the phone with the person who filed . . . The State Journal beat me to it, their article is here, I was on the phone with Fred when they posted it. I’m glad someone is doing it to protect the integrity of the process and to push the council on their decision that I think is pretty shaky. I wish it hadn’t come to this, I don’t know why we couldn’t as a city find a way to work things out instead of being stubborn and just ramming this down people’s throats. But the future of the landmarks ordinance, development in the downtown and throughout the city and our integrity of the city is at stake. Those are high stakes. This is going to cost the city quite a bit of money if something doesn’t get settled and its going to keep us all in limbo/Edgewater hell. In some ways, the filing isn’t a surprise, in other ways it makes me really bummed. If the council continues to ignore the laws and ram this stuff through, is this what all neighborhoods will need to do to get some justice? I sure hope not.
