Short council meeting . . . instead of a two-nighter, another easy night for the fingers! Apparently, the less I have to do, the lazier I get . . . this is a little brief, expect something longer tomorrow.
ZWEIFEL COMES AS CLOSE TO CALLING THE HAMMES COMPANY A LIAR AS YOU CAN WITHOUT ACTUALLY SAYING IT
Oooo, ouch. Construction jobs, exaggerated. Hotel jobs, exaggerated. TIF payback time, exaggerated. Tax assessment, exaggerated. I just wish they had used the picture of the 4 story tall sailboat! 🙂
SHERIFF DEPUTIES UNDIES IN A BUNDLE
I like how they play innocent and pretend they didn’t have a problem with the 3% cut and now they say they are trying to be team players. Dang, that’s not what it looked like when they showed up at all those budget hearings in their black t-shirts and stood around with their arms crossed looking all hostile and intimidating. I wonder how they chose which incumbents to challenge . . . think we’ll see more billboards?

It’s also finally on the weekly schedule, here’s the agenda. Between the late notice, the 3:00 start time, the lack of agenda and the rush to get this over with, you’d think they didn’t want the public to attend.
HOUSING DIVERSITY COMMITTEE
Remember Inclusionary Zoning (sunset Jan 2009) and the Mayor’s plan to come up with a plan to address the housing issues of our city that was entered into Legistar in November 2008. The report was originally supposed to be done by July 1, 2009. Remember that? The Mayor must we working really hard and putting alot of resources into this and making it a real priority, right? Riiiiight. I wonder how long we will wait . . . that dreaded word . . . wait. It’s been over a year now . . . [This isn’t a comment on the chair and his many attempts to get a meeting scheduled. It is a comment about how its not a priority and there are not adequate resources being put into this issue.]
JOBS/ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ARGUMENT STRETCHED TOO FAR
I’ve heard jobs and economic development be used as an excuse about why we need to to alot of things, but ok, seriously, what does the DNR Secretary being appointed have to do with jobs?
Doyle spokesman Adam Collins has said a governor-appointed secretary ensures greater accountability, and that going back to the old system would harm Wisconsin’s ability to create jobs.
Did they get their talking points mixed up, or is that just in every politicians talking points on every issue?
HMMM, INTERESTING CONCERN
The Daily Reporter is concerned that someone who volunteered alot of time might have been doing it for business reasons. Doesn’t this happen all the time. Why is it an issue here?
GIVE IT AWAY
Mark Clear explains why they should GIVE money to local businesses instead of lending it for 10 years at 2% interest. Satya Rhodes-Conway earlier asked a good question. How do people find out about this money? The answer was, well, we don’t have staff to do much. Well, maybe they should start there, instead of just giving the money away. Unfortunately, last night the council approved giving it away. Eh, what’s a million dollars?
IVY MAKES A GOOD POINT
Um, that’s all I have on that, you’ll have to read it.
