By 5:00 today, we’ll have the final list of spring candidates for County Executive, Mayor, Alders, School Board and some judgeships. Sorry, I’m ignoring all the Walker hoopla, I’m in denial . . . and besides, I blog on local issues!

WSJ EDITORIAL BOARD BRAYS ABOUT EDGEWATER, IGNORES FACTS, AS USUAL
There are a couple neighborhood meetings tonight to talk about the public plaza agreement and that still has to be approved, but the WSJ has declared the Edgewater a done deal, cuz . . . well, that’s what they want you to believe. There are still issues left unresolved, no matter what they say. But as Scott once told me, we’re the editorial board, facts aren’t important, its our opinion that matters.
UNIVERSITY AVENUE “DEMOLITION” PROJECT
Um, the Council doesn’t decide what to demolish . . . the plan commission does. What they WILL be talking about is the noise . . .

CANDIDATES
BLASKA WON’T RUN
“Me want keep blog.” Really, that’s why he’s not running? Me thinks he’s a coward and doesn’t want to do the hard work, he’d rather be a blowhard.
JEREMY RYAN WON’T RUN
Drops out for medical reasons.
BRUSKEWITZ LETTER TO REPUBLICAN PARTY OF DANE COUNTY
In case there was any doubt that she is running as a Republian.
BRANDON’S “RADICAL” IDEA #2
I can’t see how this is “radical” . . . sounds typical.
KYLE’S THOUGHTS ON RUNNING FOR COUNCIL
It’s important to go beyond the basics.
TJ MERTZ IS OFF AND RUNNING
He’s not leaving education issues behind, is looking for people to help on his blog and his campaign.
MCDONELL’S BUSINESS LEADERS
When the mayor held his fundraiser with business leaders, he had two hosts, Ray Allen and Curt Brink. McDonell has a dozen. That looks a little better.
MAYOR’S FUNNY SUPPORTER LIST
The mayor is having a fundraiser on Thursday, its his campaign kick off. What’s odd about it is there are no alders listed as sponsors, only one county board supervisor (Tom Stoebig) and hardly any of the folks you saw standing behind him for his announcement. Seems kind of small for a sitting mayor. I’ve seen alder campaign kick offs with bigger lists!

You might be right about Blaska, but wasn’t (isn’t) that essentially your dilemma about running/not running?
I can blog and run . . . nothing stopping me – I have a different situation with an independent blog. My situation was a little more complicated than that . . . at least the deciding factors were much more complicated than that.
Brenda, it seems to me that your big dilemma a few months ago was whether you were doing more good as a blogger than you could as an elected official. It’s a powerful platform, as you’ve recognized, and might be more influential than actually holding an office. Let’s come right out and say it, running for office isn’t the only way to influence the city and serve the community. In truth, it’s probably not even the best way.
I get that you’re so much more complicated, but there’s no question that if you ran for office, people would look at what you write here in a different light. Even as an indie blogger, you’d have conflict questions to answer.
Not so different, actually. When you become the media, you have an audience and that audience has expectations.
Giggle, I don’t know any campaign manager in their right mind that would let me blog here while running for office . . . plus, what candidate has time? If I did blog during a mayoral campaign, it would be from the campaign website – I’d take a break from blogging here, and if Mayor . . . well, then I couldn’t blog here if I made any money.
If I ran for alder . . . seems less complicated.
Honestly, I wouldn’t mind a break from blogging . . . or more help from others to help pick up some slack!
There were several other factors, if it were blog vs. run. I’d have run.

You were saying, Brenda.
Blaska seems to be stuck using the dailypage’s formatting markup. I think that may be the real reason he is staying put there – his faculty to communicate outside the dailypage environment has atrophied!
