The City Council will be voting on a resolution tonight, and the County Board will vote on a similar one later, temporarily extending the time for Occupy/homeless tent ciy and looking for better solutions for the homeless camping there.

No more denial!

A little after 11:00 tonight we were finally notified of the county's plan to deal with the holidays and the next few very cold and snowy days - and keeping homeless people from freezing to death or at least getting hypothermia or losing some toes to frostbite. Not much detail and I have NO idea how people are supposed to find out about the latest last minute plan that has been thrown together.

So, we finally finished (as much as humanly possible) the analysis of the "modernization" of landlord-tenant law bill- this is the best we could do to explain the bill and issues in plain English.

Wait lists are so long for public housing they are closing the housing lists as of March 1st. I haven't seen it this bad in the 20 years I've been working in housing.

Sigh . . .the neighbors think so . . . I had some different questions.

There is no legal place to go . . . and the Mayor says that the Council shouldn't let people guilt them into feeling...

It should be the case any time of the year, but during this cold snap, extra efforts are being made and everyone should have a place to be warm. As soon as the extreme cold is over, back to having gaps in the "system".

But not the most money.

Another listening session with neighbors of Lake View Hill tonight to discuss the occupation . . . lots of finger pointing and anger - but now that it is over, will people show up?
