A quick round up . . . may need to do another tomorrow once I sort through more emails!

Barely quorum, less than 10 minutes of discussion. Shoving it on through . . . even tho almost everyone seems to think that what they are studying won't answer their questions or result in any better options for the Dane County Jail. Activists don't need to derail the jail, the politicians seem to be doing it for us, since 2002.

Many routine items, Personnel and Finance will be discussion the jail, Criminal Justice Council gets report on Community Restorative Court and Council on Climate Change meets - the last two are during the day and you'll likely miss the meetings.

On election night, two influential county board committees met to decide what direction to go on the jail. Well, they claim that's not what they were doing, but lets face it, that is what they are doing. They are having the consultant study some more options. However, they couldn't change which options were studied. So only the one's that were "dictated" by the County Executive, the County Board Chair and the Chairs chose could be considered. Resulting in more wasted jail study money. The committee members repeatedly pointed out why at least the greenfield option was a non-starter. So, initially, when the Dane County Jail was only going to cost $76 million, it was the most expensive public works project the county every had. Now, it could cost $150 million. So they are looking for another option. Tonight, election night, at 7:00 the Public Protection and Judiciary Committee will be talking about this "change order". But what happened to the mental health study and a restoration center?

This week they will be talking about Lake Levels, the Jail changes, Engage Dane and forming the Committee to work on Alliant Energy Center massive overhaul.

Most interesting things this week . . . Lake Levels Task Force meeting tonight, a vegitative roof for the city-county building and . . . manure . . . ? Lots of routine items, but 23 meetings, look to see if something might be interesting to you.

She still has to be approved by the County Board, but this is County Executive Joe Parisi's choice. As a comical side note, I applied. Never heard from them, hmmm. :)

A few things going on around town you should know about . . . extra city meeting, mayoral forum, cops in schools, Venezuela, lake levels, free tax help, overture call for artists and help needs to pass state expungement laws!

So irritating that before 9am there are already new city meetings posted that weren't there Friday afternoon . . . and a smattering of other things going on around town . . .

So, on Monday (today) there will be a meeting of the Yahara Chain of Lakes - Lake Levels Task Force and they have two reports they will be looking at - one is a report from the technical work group (Feb. 1, 2019). The other is recommendations of the Stormwater Technical Advisory Committee of the Dane County Lakes and Watershed Commission and the Capital Area Regional Planning (May 4, 2017). So, what are the solutions? Here's a summary of my very un-expert view of the over 100 pages of reports.
