Madison City Council Member Resigns
It's only been 5 months . . . and already someone is resigning. Here's the announcement. I can't imagine a council with 4 years terms given the resignations in the past few years.
Round Up
A few things of interest going on around Madison beyond the City, County and School Board meetings this week.
Round Up and Mo’ Meetings!
Random things you might want or need to know! Or perhaps just frivolous and uninteresting items, you decide! Let me know!
Mayoral Pre-Primary Finance Reports Are In!
Here's the totals and their "war chests". Tomorrow - who giving money to whom . . . another $119,249 raised by the candidates during this reporting period (Jan 1 - Feb 4). $181,956 spent.
City Week Ahead
Full week of agendas! Finance Committee & Council decide on Judge Doyle Square, alcohol license renewal time and much more!
Local Government News Round Up
This is a bit late, I got into a gardening project or two last week and abandoned all thoughts of blogging, but it was half done, so I finished it! Here's the round up of last week's news in case you had your own gardening project or other distraction and didn't pay attention!
Common Council Recap
It was only 2.5 hours long . . . I'm kinda impressed. Seems like 3rd time was a charm! After the first hour of logistics and honoring resolutions, they spent time talking about planning issues, public market, Tree Lane, 4th Quarter Police Report, Public Market and Oscar Mayer.
1st Meeting of the New Council
Ok, I skipped the first 3 hours and 10 minutes of the thanking the outgoing alders and mayor - which was the final meeting of the outgoing council. This is only the first meeting of the new council where they elect the new president and vice president. You can watch here starting at about 3:10. The meeting lasts about 35 minutes.
Rep. Chris Taylor: F-35 military jets pushed by Corporate Interests
She compares efforts to bring F-35s to Madison to ALEC in how "big corporate special interests, through they wealth and power, often dominate policy making, to the great detriment of actual people." It's time to speak up!

Weekly Local News Round Up
My "round ups" have seen various formats and content over the years. Here's what I hope to become a weekly round up of local government news from the past week. Things I don't have time to blog about, but that should be on your radar screen.
