Random things you might want or need to know! Or perhaps just frivolous and uninteresting items, you decide! Let me know!

Recycling Mea Culpa

Yesterday I wrongfully maligned the streets department! Since its student move out and I live downtown I was looking forward to getting rid of a mountain of cardboard in my basement, and I was dismayed when I wrongfully thought the city was just throwing my hard work into the garbage. I was wrong and here's a GREAT explanation if you are wondering about the state of recycling in the city! It's actually good news. (Right, so half of stopped reading, right?)

Vang Appeal: Public Testimony

(Don't worry the video is only 30ish minutes, not 2 hours!) I feel privileged to be working with Mr. Vang, who says all the things I thought Madison believed in . . . and yet we can't seem to get right. And he acts on it. More moving testimony from Mr. Vang. Hope to see you at the Zoning Board of Appeals at 5:00.

Don't get too excited, it doesn't have a lot of information yet. Here's what I know.

A really long post about the Don Miller projects

The most important redevelopment effort in the City of Madison for the next generation is getting started in the Capitol East District along East Washington Avenue. Read on for a look at some of the projects that could be starting soon, as well as some thoughts on what we can be doing different, and the challenges we would face.

PFC Agenda Mystery Solved

I get really annoyed with so many stupid barriers to access city government information. One is when there is a city committee agenda and a link to see the materials, and then there is nothing in the link. The Police and Fire Commission (PFC) meets today and it took me a bit, but I solved the mystery of two of the items on their agenda today, but it wasn't easy. Take a quick, albeit absurd, journey with me!
