Thanks to Grace Episcopal Church for opening their doors, Karen Andro from First United Methodist Church for coordinating volunteers and Bethel Lutheran Church for helping staff the day. Z! (and board members) from Shine was there most of the day as well.

Talk, study, talk, study, talk . . . lets see some action! This meeting could be a place it gets started, for real.

City has only spent $125,000 on the crisis beyond staff time.  "Normal" budget process being delayed, budget will be focused on cost-to-continue and Covid-19 responses.

This is a department that has to have their budget passed by both the city and the county.

Why the city attorney's office advises minutes to only contain motions and votes, no notes on discussion items, alder communications survey and more.

I get really annoyed with so many stupid barriers to access city government information. One is when there is a city committee agenda and a link to see the materials, and then there is nothing in the link. The Police and Fire Commission (PFC) meets today and it took me a bit, but I solved the mystery of two of the items on their agenda today, but it wasn't easy. Take a quick, albeit absurd, journey with me!

Lots of meetings this week, mostly around Housing Week, but also council votes on referendum this week.

This isn't a surprise, but the agenda for Monday's Board of Education meeting includes a recommendation from the administration to instruct their rep on...

They are better Republicans than the Republicans in the Assembly . . . could the City be headed to court to challenge Local Control and Uniformity? I wish. I really don't know, but the mayor raises a really, really good issue (read why I love this mayor even tho we don't always agree!). Best quote: Ald. Lauren Cnare "this is about more than being mean to renters, its about ruining neighborhoods"!

This consent/non-consent agenda thing is always awkward to talk about. They will likely talk about nothing except these items and any item someone shows up to speak for or against. Even then, they usually vote and move on.

Seems as tho my readers don't need this reminder . . . but it seems like every election day, someone tells me they almost forgot until . . . so just in case! Here's my choices, free rides, resources if you need more info plus election parties.
