How'd it go? You're never going to believe it!

Council Recap Sans Walgreens and Overture

Sorry this is slow, more technical difficulties with the web hosting for our blog, making me very, very unhappy.

Additional Meetings this Week

I waited and did my run down later on Monday, but still . . . more meetings added . . .

New Exemptions from Dog Ordinance

Here's the exemption for Willly St Parade and probably Cows on the Square? Or something else?

The Most Expensive Meetings in Town?

The Edgewater? I'm thinking probably not. I was at a meeting last night with probably 20 paid non-profit staff in the meeting, and over the next few weeks and months, that will play itself out over, and over, and over. And it makes me wonder, how much of the money we are vying for is being spent in these meetings? Despite efforts to streamline the process, it still seems silly. More complicated than the development process that is getting all the attention, take a peek!

Dogs at Festivals

CDA again attempts to raid Affordable Housing Trust Fund

Three years ago, I attempted to make some changes to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund (nice, they've changed history and removed my name entirely) to allow more use of the $4M that is in the fund. The Mayor opposed those changes. Michael Schumacher removed my name and introduced it last January and still, the changes went no where . . . until now, when the CDA again wants to bend the rules to get the money. $1M of the $4M to create no new units and make current housing less affordable.

Tuesday Round Up

Here's a few scraps of news and comments for today.

The Sure to be Completely Incomplete Week Ahead (City, of course)

I got home last night and looked at the Weekly schedule and the Common Council meeting wasn't even on there yet. No kidding. They've added 5 meetings in an hour this morning, so I'm going to get this one done a little more slowly as more meetings appear. This is absurd, annoying and awful for democracy, but maybe that isn't what the city really wants. Sometimes, actions speak louder than words.

Monday Morning Round Up

Catching up from a weekend away . . . slowly . . .

News from the Neighborhood Summit

Don't worry, I'm not dead, dying or deathly ill, I took the weekend off . . . so I missed the Neighborhood Summit.

“Broken” Process Primer

For those of you looking for the background materials and information about the development process, here's a compilation of everything I could think of. It might be helpful to review if you're going to the Neighborhood Summit tomorrow! (Saturday, 9 - noon, Trinity Lutheran Church, 1904 Winnebago).
