PP&J Blocks Living Wage for Dane Co Jail Inmates

On a vote of 4 - 2 (Paul Rusk, Andy Schauer, Maureen McCarville and Mike Willett voted no on approval. Leland Pan and Dorothy Krause voted yes) the Public Protection and Judiciary decided to let jail inmates continue to get paid $3.50 a DAY for an 8.5 hour shift. Criminal, right?

Sigh . . . seriously people, this is stupid. This isn't that hard. The Public Engagement Workgroup is the best, I have no clue what it is, there is no attached agenda and they gave 26 hours notice of their meeting. Oh, irony.

Wow. City-County Building has near 50 people sleeping there now.

Even I was surprised when I walked out of the City-County Building last night, there were likely about 50 people sleeping out there, nearly doubling what it has been recently. And that number may grow. Makes the Occupy encampments start to look good.
