Mo’ Meetings

I grow so tired of this . . . every week, 3 - 10 extra meetings that didn't get posted on Friday, often with 24 - 48 hours notice, today its 26 hours notice, 26 hours notice and 30 hours notice. Last night the Homeless Issues Committee had to be cancelled because the CITY failed to post it properly - the county got it done.

City and County Housing and Homelessness Updates

Last night the Homeless Issues Committee met - and they got updates and presentations on the County Affordable Housing Fund, the City Affordable Housing Fund, the Street Outreach Program as well as City and County Budgets, the homeless day resource center, Messner's site proposals for affordable housing, and the proposal to place a portapotty downtown for people sleeping outside - plus they talked about their priorities for the upcoming year.

PD’s Pick of the Week

Re-posted from Progressive Dane's website: Each week, after consulting some of our elected officials, we will post one action you can take - typically going to a meeting and supporting their work - that will also support the goals in our platforms. Many people are talking about how with president-elect Trump, we need to double down on our actions locally. And we're here to help figure out what you can do! This week's action is tonight!

The City Week Ahead . . .

Here we go again . . . I'm spending more time on the County side of things (Human Service Budget Hearings tonight and tomorrow night - Alliant Energy Center 6:00), at the Tenants Rights' Rally tomorrow night (5:00 State St steps) and the Poverty Coalition meeting on Thursday (6:00 Edgewood College).

Police Will Do Nothing To Address Racial Disparities in the 8:1 Arrest Ratio

He was asked the question 5 - 8 times that I was present and Chief Koval points in every other direction and refuses to address the issue head on, what will change in the Police Department policies and procedures that lead to the 8:1 arrest ratio?

And the plot thickens . . .

Turns out . . . City Attorney Michael May has a little more explaining to do . . . there are more holes in his justification for having to pay Police Chief Michael Koval's legal fees than I realized when I posted yesterday! Two major pieces of info to add . . . h/t to Greg Gelembiuk!
