Let Chief Mike Koval Pay His Own Legal Fees

Should the community pay nearly $22,000 because the City of Madison Police Chief can't control his temper? I think not. And there is plenty of reason to back that opinion up. Board of Estimates (soon to be Finance Committee) will consider this today, let them know what you think!

Recent tests at Madison-Kipp Corporation reveal “shocking” levels of PCEs in groundwater beneath the factory and offsite, according to Dr. Lorne Everett, an international hydrogeology expert and key witness in the RCRA civil lawsuit brought by neighbors against Kipp. Everett, who has worked with hundreds of contaminated sites worldwide, concluded that Madison-Kipp is “one of the most contaminated sites that I’ve ever worked with.”

Board of Estimates Recap

One hour, they talk about 7 items. $1M for a water utility pumping station that wasn't budgeted, no problem, passes no discussion. $200,000 set aside in a fund to address issues of poverty and needs in our community, not so much, half hour of hand ringing, worry over process and ultimately delay. What are the council's priorities? WTF?

School Lessons

You'd think when you looked at the meeting sections of a website, they'd post all the meetings there. No, some are, the rest are in the Library tab, under legal notices . . . and apparently, there are still more meetings that aren't listed in either place. No wonder no one runs for school board in Madison, its like some magical mystical secret club and you need to know the password to get in. I asked for a secret decoder ring, hopefully it arrives in the mail soon!
