Family Overflow Shelter Starts April 4th!

Wow!!!!! This is truly exciting, currently the "warming shelter" only allows 18 people (3 - 5 families) the rest get turned away on a nightly basis. THANK YOU First United Methodist Church!!!! And County Board for funding the staff.

Lawful Order = Accountability

Chief Koval has another memo about the Council's report on changes needed in the police department. He seemingly says he'll do everything they want, but he wants them to change the language so it isn't a "lawful order". I sure hope they don't. They're voting tonight, email them if you have thoughts (allalders@cityofmadison.com).

Federal Housing Counseling Money Gone!

Once upon a time (about 7 years ago), the Tenant Resource Center got $60K for housing counseling from the federal government to run a statewide toll-free line. Then it went to $40K, then $25K, then $20K, then $0, then $20K and now back to $0. And now, no chance of getting any money, because the entire program has been zeroed out in the federal budget. Check out what will be lost!
