TIF Subcommittee of the Economic Development Committee – Oct 2nd 2012

The Mayor came to the EDC a few weeks back and asked them to talk about TIF policy. The EDC created a subcommittee, which met for the first time on October 2nd. Behind the jump are my notes, and the audio of the meeting. The subcommittee meets again today at 3:30pm in LL130 of the Madison Municipal Building. For extra confusion, this is not the TIF subcommittee that CCOC discussed on October 2nd. No one I've asked can tell me what that committee is going to do that the EDC committee isn't.

Maybe. We'll consider it.

What are our City’s Priorities

You hear politicians say at budget time, that the budget reflects our priorities. Does it? Does it Really? Cuz I don't like what I'm seeing, and I think it explains our little equity problem quite well, especially in terms of arrest rates. We'd rather police people, then help them avoid that route in life.

Gov 2.0 and Madison, Part I: Government as a Platform in Madison

This is Part I of a three part series. What is this Gov 2.0 stuff I’m writing about, and how is it even relevant to Madison? We’ll use Madison Metro as an example application.
