City Council Staff Member Doesn’t Like the Homeless in the Building

Now I know why the notice for the meeting went out a suspicious 2 days before the meeting . . .

Decieved – The Big Lie.

As a former member of an elected body, I hate it when you pass something with full expectations that one thing will happen, and then a completely different thing happens. As a member of the public, I hate it when an elected body passes something without really intending to follow through. As a human being, I hate being deceived.

More Indignities – Head Lice and the Homeless

Who will help them? As far as I can tell - no one . . . except a couple volunteers from a community group not funded by the city or a staff member from a church.

Recycle your batteries!

Is there anything Madison won't try to recycle? :)

And MORE City Week Ahead

Sneaky . . . sneaky . . . sneaky . . . . . this time, city-county liaison committee (snaky). . . and others.

Grocery Store Crash and Burn (Updated)

No grocery at 800 E. Wash . . . big empty lot for tents for the homeless? :)

Changes to the City weekly schedule . . .

You knew they were coming . . . It sucks when it is the council itself that can't get their agendas in on time . . .

Board of Estimates – Operating Budget Amendments

Board of Estimates - items 2 - 10 passed in one motion. Only two items left, a presentation by the Finance Director for the City's Life Insurance program and the budget item. This is mostly "live blogged" so not as precise and missed a few parts.

City Week Ahead

Likely about 2/3rds here . . . expect changes.

ACK!

Sorry - light blogging week - busy with work. SB179 is currently kicking my ass. Nothing but work - tons of blogging...

Radical Changes to Tenant Landlord law near complete

Tuesday night the Wisconsin Senate passed SB 179, the third piece of legislation in two years to drastically alter tenant landlord law. This law removes over 20 Madison ordinances and changes over 20 statewide laws, resulting in over 75 law changes since 2011 Wisconsin Act 108. Here is a summary of some of the areas of the law that will be impacted:

Council Budget Discussion

Prior to the council meeting last night the council had a discussion where it appears they preliminarily agreed to give $150,000 to Overture, fund Madison Metro fuel, fund police and some discussion about police overtime, concerns about a social worker for the municipal court, a cost of living increase for non-profits and maybe more funding for the Emerging Opportunities program.
