Ever wonder what is in the capital budget and why . . . here's a start.

The last two nights the department heads or their stand-ins have been busy presenting their budgets as presented in the Mayor's budget I'll try to get them done as I have time then post a summary at the end. Here's the first one.

Last night the Board of Estimates met, items 1 - 29 they passed without any discussion and they moved right on to the Capital Budget. These meetings are designed primarily to hear from department heads about what is in the budget in each of their departments and for the council members to ask questions prior to submitting budget amendments which are due after a Public Hearing at the council 9/17 and the council members will need to get their amendment in by noon the next day.

Last May the Assembly shoved it through in about two weeks. The Senate Housing and Insurance Committee sat on it all summer, but now they are having their Executive Session on a new Amended Substitute that came out on Thursday, voting Monday morning at 9 am.

Uh, yeah. It's about time we did this analysis! Study sez . . . We need more rental units and more affordable...
