TIF Subcommittee of the Economic Development Committee – Oct 2nd 2012

The Mayor came to the EDC a few weeks back and asked them to talk about TIF policy. The EDC created a subcommittee, which met for the first time on October 2nd. Behind the jump are my notes, and the audio of the meeting. The subcommittee meets again today at 3:30pm in LL130 of the Madison Municipal Building. For extra confusion, this is not the TIF subcommittee that CCOC discussed on October 2nd. No one I've asked can tell me what that committee is going to do that the EDC committee isn't.

How to Get Financial Support for Housing Issues

This is from the agency that gets all the city money for eviction prevention and security deposit funds. They get a few $100,000 but the requests at the Tenant Resource Center are over $1M of requests. THere is a lottery each month for 8 - 10 people to get eviction prevention assistance, and you can only get assistance if you haven't gotten it recently and have and income and pay future rent

County Meanies Evicting Occupy from Lake Farm Park Noon Today

We've paid for three sites through tomorrow, but the county has given the campers a notice that they have to be out by noon today - they gave them the notice last night after 5:00. I have no idea what the campers will decide to do, we don't have transportation arranged for them with this short of notice and well, the county is just being mean.

City Week Ahead

21 (or 23?) meetings this week that we know of, more will likely get added. Some of them at such popular times at 2pm (parks and open space plan), 11am (Multicultural Affairs), 8am, 12:30, 2:30 (Early Childhood Care and Education), and noon (Surveillance Committee). Who has time to show up at those odd hours?
