Sigh . . . we have plans in the CDBG office that I am sure very few people understand. I have blogged about our anti-poverty plan that is in here in the past. This year I expanded my comments. CDBG Commission will be taking public comments on their draft tonight if you want to add your comments - now is the time!

The Common Council Organizational Committee's agenda yesterday "Discussion of issues surrounding the community and the Madison Police Department" was held. Chief Koval apparently couldn't be bothered to show up. Neither could any of his supporters.

Perhaps he'll be back as comptroller . . .

So, there was quite a bit of talking about how they did the study and some of the strengths, but here is what I took away as a bottom line from the presentation. Full audio will be included when uploaded.

21 meetings, 10 meetings before 5pm on a weekday, so only half the meetings when most people not paid to be there can make...

A few random thoughts on Maniaci's recent open records request to "determine who ratted her out to the press", in regards to her health-care...

Ok, I think this is needed, but yikes, I don't know who would be a good person for this job - they'd have to be completely and totally politically tone deaf and yet quick on their feet to avoid the political nightmare this could become.

How is it that our chief law enforcement officer, Police Chief Mike Koval doesn't have to follow the rules? First, he gets found guilty, but gets no punishment. (that never happens to you and me) And now, the good ol' boys want to grant him further privileges, and $22,000, for being found guilty? The council should be thanking Sharon Irwin and Shadyara Kilfoy-Flores for doing what they didn't have the guts to do, and they should pay their legal bills - and it would likely be far less than $22,000.

Only 10 meetings (most of them on Thursday) . . . 6 start after 5:30.

For those who do not know, the Janesville School Board has demanded that the teachers sign contracts without actually knowing what is in them.  ...
