Navel Gazing I: Should the Council Have a Shared Agenda?

The retreat the council held, according to the news, was going to be about punishing Brian Solomon, taking on the mayor and all kinds of sexy topics - but, none of that really happened. Instead, it was about a shared agenda, a job description and a short discussion on how alders are appointed to committees. Audio files are here (part one and part two). This is part one, the shared agenda.

City’s Anti-Poverty Plan

Search high and low, I don't think you will find anything else in writing that includes the city anti-poverty plan, except in the largely dismissed obscure HUD report. i.e. Don't hold your breath waiting for something earth shattering.

Partial Shower Solution for the Homeless?

From . . . wait for it . . . Dave Wiganowsky! :)

Alleged City Week Ahead

Expect changes.

I Can’t Vote for Sheriff Mahoney

I can't do it, not based on his policy of calling ICE and the impact that has on the community. Not to mention, he's not exactly good with transparency for an elected official. But who to vote for . . .

Tenant’s Rights Under Attack . . . Round 4!

State legislatures is at it again! Good ol' Sen. Frank Lasee has a new buddy/puppet Rep. Robert Brooks . . . and the first hearing on the bill we have not yet seen will likely be this Thursday (December 10th) at 10am in 400NE. 26 pages of a Legislative Reference Bureau draft (not the final bill) and analysis is murky at best - its poorly drafted yet again, which is sure to lead a 5th round if they don't fix it. Here's what I think it does . . . for now, there may be changes when the actual bill comes out.

Capitol Lockdown: New Rules for Today

Today's events of note I know of . . . 12:00 - Arts WI marches to the capitol from the Concourse 1:00 - Trial Resumes 5:00 - Funeral March from Bascom Hill 5:30 - Rally at State St. Side. Now, the rules.

What You Need to Know if you are going to Miffland

Here's info that I've been told as one of the volunteers that you might like to know if you're going to Miffland tomorrow.

Alternate Alternates on Koval’s Legal Fees

First I heard David Ahrens had an alternate, then Amanda Hall said she had one, then Rebecca Kemble sent one . . . I'm not sure how many others there will be . . . and legistar was useless to try to find info on this item yesterday, it just had a message "This record is currently unavailable."

Those Numbers . . .

I keep rattling off the numbers, and everyone wants them, so here they are . . .

Tiny Houses Are Coming to Madison!

We might not be able to put them on private property anywhere in the City of Madison, including church or non-profit parking lots, but we can park them in the street! i.e. Camping, Part II. And learn how you can help us make tiny houses a reality!!!
