It seems the police are constantly shifting the ground under the policy makers about why they need more officers. And because the elected officials change all the time, they don't see the tactics that have taken place over time. Let this old timer explain . . . I've been fighting "more police" since 2001 and during that time they have added 94 more sworn officers. We've gone from 1.6 officers per 1000 in 1994 to 1.9 officers per 1000 in 2016. The budget has grown from about $35,000,000 to $70,000,000 in that time. When will it stop? There is always an excuse or a reason usually based on fear - let me run them down for you.

There was so much going on this week . . . Here's lots of extras not from the news sources, but from the community and other research. (i.e. Not about the Mayor's budget, Kathleen resignation and other things that managed to make the news through those items.)

7 meetings, two held before 5:00.

Only 3 of the 13 meetings starting after 5:00, if you work, your government doesn't want you to participate. 5th week of the month, should be less meetings than usual . . . but who knows what else will pop up this week.

I got a copy of this, but I never heard them show up in public anywhere and talk about it. So, I'm randomly...

22 meetings, 3 don't have agendas, 1 isn't on the clerk's list of meetings, 2 are cancelled and 4 are held during the day when its likely only people paid to be there can attend (12:15, 8:30, 2:00 and 12:00) and ?? changes throughout the week.

I don't have time to do this post justice, but I can't see not blogging about this latest absurdity today.

They are finally having a meeting that is not at 3pm - and this is the first I saw this level of details about the meeting . . .

Ooops, Dave did get his answer in . . . he was just late . . . and I went off to work!
