Chief Koval Violates Police Code of Conduct

Let us count the ways . . . there are so many I'm sure to miss some and just skipped over some, so please, play along. I think the Common Council needs to censure him. His behavior was atrocious and he's not above following the police department Code of Conduct. He's setting a terrible example for others under his command and someone has to check this megalomaniac's power on behalf of the citizens of this city.

Occupy Update

Today is day four of being back at the 800 E Washington site and the police or other city departments have not been back to ask people to leave or inspect the camp.

Madison Schools Week Ahead

Hmmm . . .the legal notice has no content? I could only find two meetings, no clue if this is correct.

That wasn’t on the agenda!

I hate it when committees do this - and you can't blame the media for not covering something when they don't know it is going to happen. But when the mayor shows up - it probably should be on the agenda.

Bill White’s Magic Development Memo

Wow, this is just kind of funny now. Bill called me the next morning, then sent me the memo and encouraged me to share it. Here's the bombshell mystery document and my responses to it.

Update on Hulsey Endorsement Lies

We have already provided clear evidence that Brett Hulsey has been falsely claiming the support of Fred Risser and Tammy Baldwin on this blog. I...

Portage Rd (Mr. Vang) Land Clean!

Only took me a half day off of work and about 80 miles on vehicles.

Paul Soglin: B-Cycle LLC, Bike Share Program

My question this week. Paul answered, Dave didn't.
Sure, its cool but . . . is it a good idea to make a sole source deal with Trek to provide bike kiosks for the City of Madison at a cost of $300,000 ($100,000 from this year's contingent reserve) to the taxpayer in this current economy? Should there have been an RFP, why or why not? Is it appropriate to use money from the contingent reserve?

What’s next on the “Bench” Ordinance?

NOTE: I will update this as I hear more info . . . changing questions marks to certainties. Well, the council introduced it last night, Mark Clear attempted to not vote on it being referred. Instead of (being allowed to) killing it quickly, it's now referred to 5 committees. Find out where, when? and who.

TIF . . . Change our Policies or Not?

The Economic Development Commission recommended a bunch of changes last spring, the council created an ad hoc committee which has been meeting since July to review the recommendations and it seems they are contemplating some changes, but maybe not all those recommended by the Economic Development Commission . . . lets catch up with that conversation. Is the candy store wide open with no one there to guard it? Or are the EDC recommendations falling a little flat.

What you need to (S)Know.

Lots of snow updates - basically everything is closed down, but they are attempting to pick up garbage, Madison Metro buses are not running, snow emergency in effect so move cars so you don't get tickets, Madison schools closed yesterday already, city and county offices shut down, campus in-person exams cancelled, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Lice . . . A week later . . .

Follow up to this, not much has changed. Apparently, its a public health problem enough to send out an email . . . but not enough to actually solve the problem. I don't get it
