In case there was any question about Cieslewicz not only abandoning the left, and moving to the middle . . . he’s now gone completely to the right side of the political scale . . . The conservative end of the business community is apparently getting what they want from the Mayor. So much so they are endorsing in the Mayor’s race for the first time. The question is, are you getting what you need from this mayor? Check out the list of things they got from the Mayor.
GMCC Board Endorses Mayor Cieslewicz
Today, the GMCC Board announced its endorsement of Dave Cieslewicz for Madison Mayor. This is the first time the Board has given an endorsement in an executive race. Mayor Cieslewicz has made it his top priority to focus on economic development and providing high quality city services. His notable accomplishments include creation of a cabinet-level economic development director position; creation of an economic development implementation plan; supported innovative development projects, including the Edgewater Hotel renovation; and supported comprehensive reviews of the City’s development approval process and zoning code to correct inefficiencies and make doing business in Madison simpler and more predictable.
Perhaps most important to GMCC members, the Mayor has demonstrated his commitment to working with the GMCC and supporting chamber initiatives.
Regarding the endorsement, GMCC President Jennifer Alexander said:
“Madison needs to do everything in its power to be a world-class city. We need to be a destination for business and entrepreneurs, as well as advanced research and development. We also need to maintain a high quality of life to ensure we’re a great region to live and raise a family. Mayor Dave Cieslewicz has worked to make Madison a thriving community, and we believe he will work hard for Madison’s future.”
The funny thing is that Soglin is probably going to get votes both from Mayor Dave’s left and from the right.
And I assume that those Blotz votes, however many there were, are now going to Soglin as well. I’m surprised that Blotz didn’t outright endorse Soglin, but maybe he felt it went without saying.
