Progressive Dane will be unveiling our Local Government Guide tomorrow night at our General Membership Meeting tomorrow night at the Downtown Public Library. Join us for that and more!
This is what we decided our response to Trump was going to be. We felt that there were many organizations (we invited many to speak tomorrow night) springing up and we didn’t want to duplicate their efforts, but rather have individuals in our group join them. We have been deluged with questions about local government and how to get involved, so we decided to finally just write a bunch of it down!
It should be live on our website tonight or tomorrow morning. You can kinda see a sneak preview if you poke around, but it clearly is still in editing stages. I’ve been working hard on this thing . . . it’s been a bit of a selfish motivation so that when people ask me the tons of questions that they do, I hope to be cutting and pasting and sending links instead of re-writing all the time. It will be good to have it launched, but its just the beginning. I really hope people will look at it, read it, use it as a resource, and when you can’t find what you are looking for, let us know, we’ll add it. And by “we”, I pretty much mean “me” and – you’ll love this – the lovely folks who EDIT what I write, unlike here on my blog!!! Special thanks to Heidi Wegleitner and Mary Anglim and all the others who have edited, offered input and advice up to this point!!!
Come check us (Progressive Dane) and our guide out tomorrow night, no need to be a member unless we actually vote on something! And if you feel strongly, you can join on the spot!
Come join PD for a GMM where we will introduce the PD Guide to Local Government. This is a one stop online resource that explains how you can get involved in local government on all levels and provides details on how local government works.
We will be joined by Our Wisconsin Revolution, Leading Locally, and Forward Action Wisconsin Network, White Rose Forum, and We Are Many – United Against Hate to discuss how we can act locally to counteract the far right agenda of the Trump administration.
It is local campaign season and we are entering the home stretch. Find out how you can help school board, city council, and mayoral races.
Finally we will end with the Beer Caucus at the Wisconsin Brewing Tap Haus. Kick back and have a tall cold one as we wind down the night.
