On the 18 page Personnel and Finance agenda you will find that county board members are proposing giving supervisors (previous 33% increase) and the county board chair (previous 40% increase) more raises and paying committee chairs an additional $100/mo.
Here’s the ordinance change. Here’s the fiscal note.
COUNTY BOARD SUPERVISORS
2 years ago they gave themselves raises as follows:
County board supervisors were getting paid $8,200 year.
In 2018 they got a raise to 10,550
In 2019 they got a raise to 10,725 (30% increase)
In 2020 they were scheduled to get a raise to $10,900 (33% increase)
They have scheduled an additional raise in 2021 to $11,227 (additional 4.7% raise from 2019, total 37% raise since 2017)
Additionally, they are proposing that with the exception of the Executive Committee, supervisors who serve as chair of a standing committee or the Extension and Land Conservation Committee get an additional $100 per month.
COUNTY BOARD CHAIR
2 years ago they gave the chair raises as follows:
The chair was getting paid $37,000
In 2018 they got a raise to $50,000
In 2019 they got a raise to $50,750 (37% increase)
In 2020 they were schedule to get a raise to $51,500 (40% increase)
They have scheduled an additional raise in 2021 to $53,045 (additional 4.5% raise from 2019, total 43% raise since 2017)
HOW’D THIS HAPPEN?
This is a proposal from the County Board Chair Sharon Corrigan and Supervisors Carl Cehnoweth, Patrick Miles and Paul Nelson. Fiscal note says its a 3% increase in 2021 from what they gave themselves last year, to match what the employees are getting.
This is the first I have seen this proposal with any details. I know it was on the Personnel and Finance Committee meeting for discussion on September 16th. This is what the minutes say: “Corrigan presented options for the County Board Supervisor and Chair compensation. There was no action taken.”
The history of this amendment just said that it was referred on October 18th. So I guess this will be the only discussion of it besides when it hits the county board floor.
Sure is different than the city . . . at the county they quickly and quietly act while no one is watching.
