Today is primary election day in Wisconsin, so please go vote. I recommend Heidi Wegleitner and Carl Chenoweth. Unfortunately there are not primaries(or even opponents) for too many races.
When going to the polls in Dane County, I wanted to point out a couple things that may have been missed.
1. The conservatives on the Dane County Board, recently threw a hissy fit. In what amounted to a temper tantrum, the "conservatives" on the board, ended up costing the taxpayers of Dane County over $100,000 to let everyone know how "conservative" they are.
2. In the recent Dane County Executive election, the Dane County "conservatives" picked picked Eileen Bruskewitz as their candidate.
Bruskewitz then declared her independence.
Bruskewitz said she is not a member of any political party, but one of her strengths as a candidate is that she has relationships with Republicans that would allow her to advocate effectively for the county with the new governor and Legislature.
The problem with Ms. Bruskewitz’s claim is the open records law. Recently the state republicans fought very hard to keep some public documents secret. Fortunately for the people of Wisconsin a three judge panel ordered the documents released(Here are all 84 pages). How does this effect Dane County?
It turns out that after they illegally drew these maps in secret, they needed some shills to testify how great and fair the maps were. Who was their first call in Dane County? Eileen Bruskewitz of course!
Ms. Bruskewitz offered to testify about the new maps – SIGHT UNSEEN. So the republican party called up the “independent” Bruskewitz and said ” ROLL OVER, SIT, SPEAK “. Ms. Bruskewitz happily obliged.
The moral of the story, if a politician in Dane County tells you they are a "conservative" , Run(and vote) the other way!!
