This only happens once every 5 years, so Wednesday is the day to pay attention! What will Dane County put in its comprehensive plan for housing? Please try to attend, I will be out of town!
Please find attached (and also embedded below) an agenda for a public information and input meeting focused on housing, sponsored by the Dane County Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 357 of the City-County Building, located at 210 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. in downtown Madison.
This meeting is part of Dane County’s Comprehensive Plan update process, the associated material for which can be found at the following link:
Dane County’s first comprehensive plan was adopted in 2007. Six years later, the plan is now being reviewed for possible updates. While the vast majority of the plan is still as relevant today as it was in 2007, new issues and priorities emerge over time. Housing, particularly the areas of affordable housing and homelessness, have been identified by the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee as key priorities for this update.
A summary of the existing plan recommendations relating to housing can be found by clicking on “Housing Matrix” under “Implementation Matrices” in the link above. This summary matrix parallels Chapter 2, Housing, of the current Dane County Comprehensive Plan, which can be found by way of the following:

The focus of this public meeting is twofold: provide overview information to the public on housing in Dane County, and receive public comments on local housing issues, especially those that may not have been as prevalent in 2007 as they may be today.
As part of this process, the Dane County Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee solicited comments this past summer from the public, asking about key community planning issues in Dane County. The primary comments that have been received to-date relating to housing came from the Dane County Homeless Issues Committee (HIC); these comments can be viewed via the following:

Lastly, please feel free to share this notification with anyone that may be interested in the topic of housing in Dane County.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any comments or questions.
Take care and have a pleasant Thanksgiving!
