End of Slow Week Friday Morning Round Up

Here’s what I have . . .

GENERAL

OH CRAPP
Makes you wonder how they choose what makes the news. Naked seems to be one criteria.

CITY

THAT’S ONE BIG EXCUSE
Police justify why they didn’t use the Amber alert.

NATIONAL WIDLIFE REFUGE CONFERENCE IN MADISON
And they didn’t even have to get some fancy B-cycle type deal to do it.

PARK YOUR BIKE IN THE STREET
Where is the money for this coming from? Aren’t there laws that need to be changed to do this? Doesn’t it have to be approved by the council? Seems odd they can just do this . . . but its for the bikies so the rules tend not to apply.

THE NUDITY ARTICLE
A couple days late, but hey, you knew it was coming.

COUNTY

PARISI URGING PEOPLE BEING FORECLOSED ON TO APPLY FOR FEDERAL PROGRAM
$50K . . . apply by July 22. Rickert critical of the program.

SCHOOLS AND UW

HOW TO FIX THE MADISON SCHOOL DISTRICT BUDGET GAP?
Ed Hughes is looking for your advice. Take his poll.

BETTER TO GIVE GRANTS TO WHOM?
Those least likely to succeed . . . lower ACT scores and first generation college students.

A FRUIT OR VEGETABLE THREE TIMES A WEEK
Wow, that’s considered good for school lunches.

STATE

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT?
Requiring open meetings for the legislature. What a novel idea.

IMMIGRANTS “THROWN UNDER THE BUS” BY DEMOCRATS
Don’t just take Kyle’s word for it. Sounds like the bill will just lead to more workers rights violations. There are unintended consequences to the bill that makes companies that hire undocumented workers ineligible for certain tax exemptions, governmental contracts, grants, and loans, granting rule−making authority, and providing penalties

PRO-LIFERS RELENTLESS
Want Van Hollen to go after UW for training their doctors.

ANOTHER FEDERAL LAWSUIT
Filed by unions over the Budget Repair Bill. Makes sense, can’t take these cases through the state courts given the state of our Supreme Court. Lawyers definitely coming out on top.

HOW DO WE FIX THIS MESS WE ARE IN
Campaign finance reform could be a game changer.
