Think that’s about right? There’s 13 meetings on the schedule this week, I might have aimed a little high and been a bit optimistic, might be 70% or less. We’ll see. Noticeably missing, I thought there was supposed to be a TIF Joint Review Board meeting on the 14th.
Monday, July 12, 2010
8:00 AM COMMISSION OF THE MADISON METROPOLITAN SEWERAGE DISTRICT 1610 MOORLAND RD.
– They don’t post their agendas, just their meeting time. If you hunt around on the internets, you can find their agenda, I’ve done it once or twice. I don’t know why they just don’t link to it here.
2:00 PM JC WRIGHT AWARD SELECTION COMMITTEE ROOM 523 CCB
– I think this is a subcommittee of the EOC, as this is the award they give at their picnic.
4:30 PM BOARD OF ESTIMATES ROOM 260 MMB
– I really had Mondays where the Board of Estimates, Landmarks Commission and Plan Commission all meet on the same day . . . someone should do something about that. Its really not fair to the public or the alders. Only BOE will be televised.
– Dean Brasser’s 5 year contract renewal (should be smooth sailing now that it was properly referred)
– Emergency Shelter Grant funds from the state. Someone should ask how it compares to last year, and the year before, I’ll tell ya, its not a good trend as the money goes down, down, down. And in this economy, the needs are going up, up, up and the stimulus funds are nearly gone.
– Whoo, hooo. James Madison Park Shoreline being fixed. Why is Rummel a sponsor, not Maniaci? Cuz BB Clarke is getting $14K?
– More budget amendments for street work on the South side.
– $161K to hire engineers to get our downtown library LEED certified. That’s a lot of money to get a certification, why not just make it green to the best of our ability?
– $375K to have someone manage the Library project for the city. That’s a lot of beans.
– Public Market
4:45 PM LANDMARKS COMMISSION ROOM LL-110 MMB
– Demolition of Water Utility Building on E Main.
– City Development Review & Approval Initiative Discussion – Communication from Tim Cooley, Director of the Economic Development Division
– Landmarks Ordinance Revisions ( Note: The Commission will discuss Section 33.19(5)(a-e) and (g-i) Powers and Duties, and Section 33.10(15) Variances, as time is available. Upcoming Discussions on Potential Ordinance Language Changes July 26, 2010: Sections 33.19(1-4) if needed, Section 33.19(5)(a-e) and (g-i) Powers and Duties, if needed, Section 33.10(15) Variances, if needed)
5:15 PM MADISON BOARD OF POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSIONERS, MAY CONVENE INTO CLOSED SESSION ROOM 103A CCB
– Their agendas are useless. They mostly note what they “may” consider. And no attachments. Nice public notice, eh? Especially for the public body that oversees the police and fire departments.
5:30 PM PLAN COMMISSION ROOM 201 CCB
– Special zoning code rewrite meetings will be July 15, 19 and August 2, 16, 2010 (Room 260, Madison Municipal Building) and August 30 (Room 300, Madison Municipal Building
– The City doesn’t want Bayview’s housing. They’re giving it back to them.
– They’ll be discussing the Tim Cooley memo send to them on July 26th.
Tuesday, July 13, 2010
4:30 PM ALCOHOL LICENSE REVEIW COMMITTEE SUBCOMMITTEE ON DOWNTOWN ALCOHOL ISSUES & ORDINANCES ROOM 103A CCB
– Proposed changed to the Alcohol License Density Ordinance a.k.a ALDO (no attachment)
– Expanding the boundaries of the ALDO to Park and Regent.
– Increasing the amount of alcohol for exceptional circumstances (from 25%)
– Sunset, annual review and report on ALDO.
5:00 PM TRANSIT AND PARKING COMMISSION ROOM 260 MMB
– Buried in this report is the issue of security cameras and the fact that SAFETY is the #1 concern of parkers. (That’s what I thought, but cameras are a poor replacement for a human being. If you get mugged or beat up, having it caught on camera is little solace.) And, funny, no mention of all that parking needed for the High Speed Rail station or any of the meetings they have been attending on that. Just a minor oversight, I’m sure, given its the LARGEST ISSUE FACING THE PARKING UTILITY.
– Ridership, year to date, down 0.3% instead of up 6% which was the potential.
– Allowing Taxi’s to require advance payments in certain circumstances
– Metro Overtime report (no attachment)
– Stroller (and luggage) policy public hearing
Wednesday, July 14, 2010
6:30 PM BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS 1625 NORTHPORT DR.
– BID 1.5 year contract to operate Lisa Link Visitor Center and “Code of Conduct” for Lisa Link Park. (no attachment)
– Fruits and Nuts Update
Thursday, July 15, 2010
4:30 PM MONONA TERRACE COMMUNITY AND CONVENTION CENTER BOARD (Cancelled) HALL OF FAME ROOM ONE JOHN NOLEN DRIVE
5:00 PM LONG RANGE TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE ROOM LL-110 MMB
– Intercity Passenger Transportaion and Multi-modal transportation station/terminal.
– Improving the TDM (Transportation Demand Management) program for the city. This program encourages employers to provide alternatives to a single occupancy vehicle for transportation to work.
5:30 PM DOWNTOWN COORDINATING COMMITTEE ROOM 108 CCB

– Prohibiting dogs and other animals at various events
5:30 PM PLAN COMMISSION, ZONING CODE REWRITE SPECIAL MEETING ROOM 201 CCB
– They will be reviewing Memo 1 and Memo 2. They are not attached to the agenda, which is annoying.
